As the official publication of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Institute of Health Sciences, the journal’s scope encompasses a broad spectrum of disciplines, including Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Medicine, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nutrition and Dietetics, Midwifery, and Nursing. It invites original research articles, reports, and reviews.

The Journal of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Institute of Health Sciences is committed to upholding the highest standards of scientific rigor and integrity, ensuring that all published works offer meaningful and constructive insights. Author Guidelines (2025)

The Journal of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Institute of Health Sciences is an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Institute of Health Sciences. Effective January 1, 2025, the official language of publication for the Journal of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Institute of Health Sciences is English only. Any changes to the guidelines will be declared on the website.


Submission Guidelines

Effective Date

These guidelines have been revised and are effective as of 01.01.2025.

General Requirements

• Manuscripts must be original and unpublished. Submissions under review by another journal will not be considered.

• Since 01.01.2025, the official language of the Journal is English only.

• Ethics Committee Approval is mandatory for all original research submissions, including surveys. Original research submissions do NOT include ethical approval will not be reviewed.

• The journal does NOT charge fees at any stage, including submission or publication.

• The review process follows a double-blind peer review system. 

• All mandatory submission files must be uploaded through the online submission system.


Manuscript Preparation

Format and Layout

• Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.

• Font: 12-point Times New Roman, with 1.5 line spacing.

• Alignment: Single-column format. Avoid text justification and hyphenation.

• Line Numbering: Include consecutive line numbers starting from the Abstract section at the bottom of the page.

• Manuscripts must be submitted in editable formats, such as Microsoft Word.

Title Page Requirements

• Title: Capitalize the first letter of each word.

• Authors: Full names, ORCID IDs, and institutional affiliations (e.g., Department, Faculty, University, City, Country). ORCID IDs are mandatory for all authors.

• Corresponding Author: Full name, email address, and phone number.

• Declaration statements:

  • Acknowledgments: Provide details of individuals or organizations who contributed to the work but are not listed as authors. If not, please write “Not Applicable”.
  • Conflict of Interestt: Provide a statement disclosing any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could influence the work. If not, please write “Authors disclose no potential conflicts of interest”.
  • Ethics: Provide confirmation that the study adheres to ethical standards and specify the approving ethics committee with reference number. If not, please write “Not Applicable”.
  • Informed Consent: Provide assurance that informed consent was obtained from all participants, including legal guardians for minors, if applicable. If not, please write “Not Applicable”.
  • Author Contributions: Provide a detailed description of each author's role in the study using the CRediT taxonomy, or state "N/A" for non-applicable roles. Please check and fill Auhtor Contribution Form and generate final statement as shown in the Form.
  • Funding: Provide details of financial support, including grant numbers and funding agencies, or state if no funding was received. If not, please write “Not Applicable”.
  • Data Availability: Provide information on how and where the data supporting the findings can be accessed, or state if data is not applicable. If not, please write; “The data used to support the findings of this study can be made available upon request to the corresponding author.”


Main Text Structure

1. Abstract and Keywords:

  • Include the study’s purpose, methods, significant findings, and conclusion.
  • Maximum 300 words.

2. Introduction:

  •  Define the problem, provide context through a literature review, and clearly state the aim of the study.

3. Materials and Methods:

  • Describe tools, methods, and procedures with sufficient detail for reproducibility.
  • Cite standardized methods and include ethics compliance details.

4. Results:

  • Present findings clearly and concisely, using text, tables, or figures where appropriate.

5. Discussion:

  • Compare findings with existing literature, addressing consistencies, conflicts, limitations, and implications for future research.

6. References:

  • List sources in numerical order as cited in the text. (Refer to detailed reference formatting below.)

References

  • Use Vancouver style and number references consecutively as they appear in the text.
  • In-text citations should use Arabic numerals in parentheses, placed before punctuation (e.g., "...as demonstrated (1).").

Figures and Tables

Figures

  • Submit in JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or EPS formats with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
  • Upload each figure as a separate file.

Tables

  • Place tables at the end of the text file, each on a separate page.
  • Use a single grid format and number tables consecutively in the order they are cited in the text.


Figure Legends
  • Provide descriptive and explanatory legends for all figures.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

The publication processes of the Journal of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Institute of Health Sciences are based in the fair production, development, and dissemination of knowledge within the framework of scientific methods.

Peer-reviewed articles are expected to adhere to rigorous scientific methods, ensuring objectivity. All parties involved in the publication process (publisher, editors, authors, reviewers, and readers) are required to comply with ethical standards for scientific production. In this context, the journal's policies on ‘publication ethics’ and ‘open access’ demand adherence to the ethical principles outlined in the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, including the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

If it is determined that an author has used fabricated or falsified data, the journal will report this to the author’s affiliated institution and reject the manuscript. The journal's editorial team and reviewers reserve the right to request the raw data used in the manuscript.


Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher

Sivas Cumhuriyet University, the publisher of the Journal of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Institute of Health Sciences, is a nonprofit public educational institution committed to the dissemination of knowledge.

The journal's Administrative Committee oversees its Editorial Board. Depending on the article’s subject, the editor may assign additional experts as field editors to ensure specialized evaluations.


Responsibilities of the Editorial Board

The Editorial Board is responsible for all processes associated with articles submitted to the journal. This responsibility includes making decisions that prioritize public interest over personal gain.

  • Editorial decisions are made independently, without influence from the publisher or external entities.

  • The Editorial Board strives to improve and enhance the journal's quality continually.
  • It defines and implements policies regarding publication, peer review, evaluation processes, and ethical principles.
  • The board retains copyrights for published articles and safeguards authors’ intellectual property rights throughout the publication process.
  • Measures are taken to prevent unethical practices, such as plagiarism and unethical citations.
  • The board provides clear guidance for authors and reviewers regarding evaluation processes.
  • Incentive policies are developed to support authors.
  • Records of all articles are maintained electronically or in physical form.

Responsibilities of Editors

  • Editors ensure clear communication with reviewers, authors, and readers.
  • They prioritize articles that are original and contribute to the literature.
  • Decisions on publication are based on originality, clarity, content validity, and reliability.
  • Editors implement a transparent peer-review process while maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.
  • Manuscripts are assigned to field editors and reviewers with expertise in the relevant area.
  • Editors ensure that all editorial practices align with ethical guidelines, including the protection of personal data and intellectual property rights.
  • Ethical violations, such as conflicts of interest or academic misconduct, are addressed promptly.

Responsibilities of Author

Authors submitting to the journal must adhere to the following principles:

  • Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original and not under review or published elsewhere.
  • Proper citation and adherence to ethical principles in referencing sources are mandatory.
  • Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to the manuscript should be listed as authors.
  • Authors must provide raw data if requested during the evaluation process.
  • Ethics committee approval must be documented for research involving human or animal subjects, and this approval must be clearly stated in the manuscript.
  • Review articles do not require ethics committee approval, but this exemption should be explicitly mentioned in the manuscript.
  • Authors must comply with copyright regulations and ensure their work aligns with international ethical guidelines.

Reporting Ethical Violations

Unethical behavior or practices by editors, reviewers, or authors can be reported to the journal at cusbid@cumhuriyet.edu.tr.


The Journal of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Institute of Health Sciences operates as a nonprofit, academic publication and does NOT charge any fees to authors at any stage of the publication process. This includes submission, peer review, editing, and publication.
